Playtech
The world economy is an ever-changing landscape. Every day, new companies are started that will be the industry giants of the future. Back in 1999, when a company called Playtech was first founded, people didn't think much of it. It was just another company joining in on the dot-com explosion – something most people thought would not be a long-lasting industry. Who would have thought that 12 years later, Playtech would be one of the biggest figures in the online gambling world. If you don't already know, Playtech develops software for many of the Web's greatest online casinos. The company
To give you an idea of the size and importance of Playtech, the company currently employs more than 800 people. Its software powers hundreds of online casinos, poker and bingo rooms. More recently, the company has branched out into mobile gaming, scratch games, and fixed-odds arcade games, but their focus remains on poker and casino games. Bingo is also a strong part of Playtech's portfolio. They offer some of the most efficient bingo software available today, for a fair price. At this time the company has not released figures as to exactly how many casinos and bingo rooms it runs, but suffice it to say that the number is in the hundreds.
The poker network
Over the past few years, Playtech has perfected their casino software, and shifted their focus more towards poker and bingo. Their iPoker rooms have gained quite a bit of popularity, and are usually ranked around #3 in the world for number of players. There is a large network of iPoker rooms, all of which are powered by the same Playtech software. The only real difference is the designs and layout of the poker room, and maybe the financial policies of the company who owns it. As far as Bingo, Playtech seems to be less aggressive. However, they do power a number of online bingo sites, most of which are in the Bingoland network.
Other fields
In November 2009, sports betting was finally added to Playtech's portfolio. Their top-notch sports betting software allows people to place real-time wagers on almost any sporting event worldwide. There are only a handful of sports books who have signed on with Playtech so far, the biggest of which is Titan Bet. The company has made it clear that it wants to be a player in EVERY form of gambling, so it would not surprise me if we see more and more Playtech-powered sports books over the next few years.
Playtech is also offering the live dealers feature: nice girls turning the cards, spinning the wheel and rolling the dice, and it's also possible to chat with them during the game.
Where to play
Though Playtech's poker, bingo and sports software are gaining popularity, none of them can compare to the already-perfected casino software. Playtech casino software has been tested and certified by BMM International, a testing facility for gambling software. Some of the more noteable companies that use Playtech software are William Hill, BetFred, ToteSport, Europa Casino, GoldenPalace, Sega Casino, Bet365, CelebPoker, Titan Poker, Mansion Poker, and several others.
