Further online poker merger this week

Yesterday (Nov.4) was reported that the two online gaming giants Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker could announce an official merger tomorrow (Nov, 6). Rumours about a possible consolidation had been reported also in the past few weeks.

Both two sites are still accepting players from United States and are looking to consolidate their shares after the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) signed last month by President George W. Bush. These two companes have a high audience in the online poker industry and united they could create one of the largest poker network in the world.

Actually it's unclear how the new company could be structured, and it's also unclear how this merger will affect the staff and both companies. Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker haven't commented this rumour yet.

Ultimate Bet was launched in 2000, and it's owned by eWorld Holdings, Ltd, licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. Absolute Poker is the fourth largest online poker network offering access to multi-player poker games, 24 hours a day. Both companies are using proprietary software for their online games.
