Sportingbet closed Paradise Poker

The british based company Sportingbet announced during the weekend that they have closed their site Paradise Poker, one of the biggest online poker rooms.

Sportingbet also announced they will retain the Paradise Poker brand name and extended their contract with the software provider Boss Media. Furthermore all the existing account of this poker room will be migrated to the already existing Sportingbet poker platform.

Sportingbet said their platform has about 6.500 active players and the combination of these two poker rooms, would generate some savings after a period of losses derivating from the UIGEA in october 2006.

During the last three months of 2006, the Boss Media platform generated incomes up to 72%, while the Paradise Poker site generated a rise of 9% only.

Paradise Poker has been acquired by Sportingbet for $298 million in October 2004 (E.R).
